Military Spouse Finds Virtual Job at Pearl

In honor of Military Spouse Appreciation Day, we are sharing the story of one of Pearl’s own employees.

Cari Moisan works from home while managing household

Cari Moisan, a military spouse, was looking for a job that would accommodate the needs of her family. She has extensive experience working for several international manufacturing companies as an executive assistant for various c-suite executives. She holds an associate’s degree in paralegal science and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Cari Moisan, Pearl administrative assistant and military spouse, is able to work from home while taking care of her family. One of her dogs, Riggs, lies at her feet.

But Moisan has additional responsibilities. She home-schools her 12- and 14-year-old sons. She is also a caregiver for her husband, a Marine Corp veteran who is permanently disabled. Finding employment that would allow her to be home for her family would be challenging at best.

Moisan left a job to relocate to Florida with her family to start a new job. It was good timing, as it would also enable her to be geographically closer to her parents, who had recently moved there. But after the move, the company she was going to start working for went out of business. Being an hour away from the closest city – where all the jobs were – Moisan’s employment options now became severely limited.

“It’s imperative that I have a job that’s close to home,” she said. “I have to be home to take my husband to the doctor; or if he’s having a bad day, I need to be available.”

Moisan was out of work for 18 months. “It was very hard to find a ‘legit’ work-from-home job,” she recalled. “It was incredibly challenging – mentally, emotionally, and financially. We hit rock bottom and my husband’s health was also declining.” Between her need to be near home and the lack of jobs within a reasonable driving distance, Moisan’s job search was looking grim. But she never gave up.

She reached out to a Pearl recruiter, whom she had been talking to a few years earlier. “I had Pearl Interactive Network on my radar, but the timing wasn’t right until now,” Moisan said.

Moisan was hired as an administrative assistant for Pearl. The best part is that she is able to work from home while taking care of her family. She is grateful for the opportunity.

“Pearl not only gave our family a livable income, but it gave me my self-esteem back,” she explained. “It has allowed me to be there for my husband and my children, to support us financially, and to give back in a way that no other job has ever given me. I am excited to be part of a growing company with a mission that’s close to my heart. No job has ever given me the sense that I was participating in something that was bigger than me – but Pearl does. I know that my work here will help a veteran, caregiver or disabled person find gainful employment.

“My employment experience here has been the most positive, personally gratifying, fulfilling, and supportive one I’ve ever had. Everyone here is so passionate about the mission of the company – it’s contagious. It makes you want to work harder. I may be over a thousand miles away from the corporate office, but you don’t feel like you are. You feel like you’re part of the team.”
